This Year

I have been a unfit 46 year old. I decided at the end of last year 2009 to get into shape as I was forty pounds over weight. When I started trying to run, I could maybe run hundred yards then stop with erratic breathing and the pains in my legs.
Remembering the joy I got out of running when I was younger, I stuck with it and through grit and being pig headed, I started telling every one I was going to do the Belfast Marathon on May 1st. Those I told said yea yea, what ever - heard this before, as my past attempts at keeping fit lasted all of two days.
So I did the Belfast in 3hrs 40! I got the running bug, ran another marathon 3 weeks later in 3hrs 46 and have added four half marathons to that averaging 1hr 40 mins.
By the end of Sept hope to have 3 marathons and 5 half marathons under my belt.
I had forgot how being active and fit can have such a positive and amazing out look in your general well being. So really my story is not about the perfect race as such, but how running has given me the perfect live in believing and achieving any thing I wish in life.
