I run to be a better mother

by Angela Moreno
(Olympia, Wa.)

I am a 31 year old mother of a beautiful 3 year old energetic little girl. I have fooled myself into thinking that I hated running my entire life. About a year ago I decided to jog a little on the treadmill at the gym and found that even though it was difficult, I loved the challenge. At that time, running for ten minutes straight was quite an accomplishment! After that I entered my first 8K in July followed by a 4.5 mile trail run in November.

I'm currently training for a 10K in March and a half marathon in May. I have never had so much energy! Last week I ran an a total of 16 miles! I have never felt better physically or mentally. Now I can keep up with my vivacious little girl and she can grow up and be proud of her healthy mom!

Amazing Success Story...
by: Franc Karpo - Distance Running Tips

Hi Angela,

Wow - what can I say? You go from someone who hates to run and now you are hooked. Having more energy, zest for life, and more 'positivity' can not only make you a better mother, but better on all your relationships!

Good luck in your half marathon. Of course it will only be a matter of time until you do a marathon! :o)

Franc
