Hills of Life

by Ellen Ector
(Austell,Georgia)

My daughter at a young age of 27 was just notified she had breast cancer. She quickly called me on the phone sobbing and very hysterical. I left work early, upset to come home and comfort her. The next morning I decided to go for a run at Kennesaw Mountain in Georgia to sort things out. Basically I did not want her to see me break down to this upsetting news. I began my run which is mostly uphill. I started thinking this is what life is all about going uphill struggling and then downhill with ease. Boy I was running up the hills with such surge and going downhill was a breeze. I started crying and praying most of the way and asking God to please comfort our family in this time of need. I looked up to the sky and suddenly, a strong voice was telling me loud and clear not to worry and to go home and tell your daughter she would only need six chemo treatments and a few weeks of radiation to rid her of the cancer. But to make sure you let her know she would have a baby within a few years and would also breast feed.

GOD had spoken.

He also said to get my family into church and the disease would never come back. I went home and let her know the good news, we both cried with joy. Everything God told me on this perfect run came true even the amount of treatments that were needed was right on the money.

In 2008 my daughter gave birth to a baby boy and also had the joy of breast feeding. I also got fringe benefits of purchasing a jogging stroller to push my grandson in to get my race times down. Every time I need guidance in life I go to the mountain and run the hills of life. By the way I placed first in my age group this weekend and my daughter is doing just fine!!!

Running Miracle
by: Franc - Distance Running Tips

Ellen,

Your experience is nothing short of miraculous! I've always felt a stronger connection to God during my runs than at any church, temple, etc that I've been in.

Your 'Perfect Run' is proof that indeed anything is possible.

When your grandson is old enough to understand what happened that day, he will realize that his life, (and his mother's) is an amazing blessing.
